To be honest iv'e advised alot of people around me for some time now NOT to invest in a expensive Full HD tv just yet. The truth is a much cheaper hd-ready screen is more than sufficient at the moment, since most games only run at 720P, Blu-Ray is just catching on for HD movies and(here in europe atleast) HD tv broadcasts aren't really that big and if there are some again hd ready will do fine.
Besides this it has be known for quite some time that 3D screens are coming, and newer LCD screen technologies(OLED for example) will provide incredible image quality, with contrast up to 100 times as high, true blacks and no screen blurring. These techniques will also be cheaper to manufacture.
I have a 720 projector right now that will do until a affordable one with 3D and improved technology will come around.
