http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/scraping-spear underestimating scraping spear power? I think you are overestimating it, MC has 400 durability a scraping spear is never going to break my weapon, it takes off 10 dura per hit, 30 percent of max dura is considered a broken weapon. 30% of 400 is 120, this means that scraping spear has to hit me 28 times before my weapon breaks. Scraping spear damage is 100 per hit with an E/A bonus with max stats it should barely squeak out 240 damage and that is with 99 str and 99 dex...I deal 500 damage a hit with 36 str, 40 dex, and 26 faith the I would think the best pvpers usually do not go over 1500 life in body form. At 50 vit you have 1500 life, at 99 vit you only get 1900, 49 soul levels for 400 more life due to the diminishing returns of the game. 500 damage per hit means even the BEASTEST vita character can not get hit by me 3 times before dying. Quite frankly I've yet to see someone take 2 direct shots from my MC and survive. I am at 1.2k life in body form right now at SL 125, a scraping spear has to hit me 8-9 times consecutively for me to die. Plus I prebuff like mad, this is another reason I never lost a BP fight, what is the BP going to do when I die and bam wtf bbq this fool has second chance on?! Or even worse for the scraping spear would be if I cast warding, more than halves physical damage now that scraping spear is really just a scraping spear... |
It is not used as a weapon of mass damage...it is use to break your armors. You seem to forget Meat Cleaver and other weapons of it's type are fairly easy to dodge, if you get the rhythm. You can also guard while attacking with the spear (requires large shields) and if you equip it with 2 hands, the range is crazy. 1 on 1, you will have a tough time with the bp( unless he stinks).
It all depends on your fighting skills. For example, spear vs very large swords, you wait for the guy to attack then you'll have about 1sec 30 millisecs to repost( which is easy with a fast attack weapon). Then just repeat...I do admit, however, if you mess up and get hit by MC/Brand/Keel M then you're pretty much f**ked and must back off.
But as I said, all depends on you and your challenger.
EDIT: Warding leaves you unguarded so you must be careful. Same with Second Chance spell...I would go for second chance as soon as I invade someone.
