That's the thing though. The Wii sells amazingly every year. In 2006, the Wii sold amazingly. In 2007, the Wii sold amazingly. In 2008, the Wii embarrassed the HD consoles over and over and took the holiday season by storm. And in 2009, it did the same. We're used to the Wii selling tremendously well, and it has already run away with an easy first place among home consoles. There's no real excitement because it doesn't have extreme ups and downs like the HD consoles do. The reason PS3 sales are so interesting is because they went from being very low to tremendously high, with doom and gloom replaced with optimisn and cheer. The Wii may have had some shaky sales at some points this year, but it was always selling very well. And some people in this thread need to cut down the fanboyism. It's just a gaming system, damn. |
I agree that Wii has always been selling really well, but this could be a record breaking week (and probably month). People laughed at/bashed ioi a few months ago when he said Wii would have a better December this year than last year with no supply issue since Wii has peaked last year. Then again we have to wait for NPD numbers to confirm.
MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
