Check the codes in the details section when it fails. Check those codes to make sure you haven't been banned.

First port of call of course is to turn off your router for a minute then start it and your 360 back up again. Service is fine for me btw.

WHy would i have been banned?

And if its my router why do i have net and others are having the same issue?

Its unlikely in fairness as it usually comes up with a message now but you can get false positives on Microsoft anti piracy detection.

The reason you should reboot your router is to flush all connections and settings properly, if during a session on Live something went wrong and it closed up a port on your router then it might take a reboot to get it working again.  I didn't say it was guaranteed to work but it does solve a huge number of issues with DNS problems and other issues that can prevent Live connecting.  Hving the internet doesn't mean much in all honesty, it's very easy to have some external services work while others don't.

Assuming you've done what I suggested then its a call to Xbox support who can explain what issue you're having from the fault codes the 360 is giving you.
