On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please. I mean no offense im just using this thread to raise awareness of an important issue.

The Xbox 360 and Wii are pretty similar machines, actually even more similar than the Xbox 360 and PS3 and they are good together in a group because:

  • Both systems use IBM CPUs, ATI GPUs and NEC ED-Ram as well as DVD drives.
  • Both systems have incredibly flawed online (Wii because of features and 360 because of cost).
  • Buying both systems actually makes sense from a gameplay perspective as they are unique to each other.
  • Both systems cost the same, Xbox 360s are just $200 when you compare it to the PS3.

When you compare the Wii60 with the PS3 quite a few important issues about the PS3 become clear:

  • The PS3 cannot sell hardcore games as well as the Wii60, only casual 1st/2nd party software really sells well on that system without bundling like LBP and GT5P whereas hardcore 1st/2nd party titles like Halo 3 and Gears of War etc sell in abundance on the Wii60.
  • The PS3 cannot seem to get massive sellers out like the Wii60 which has 19 5 million+ sellers and 5 10 million+ sellers. The PS3 only has 2 5 million + sellers and they are both 3rd party.

In terms of overall performance of the Wii60 and previous consoles vs the Playstation family:

  • Nintendo + Microsoft shipped 288M home consoles combined with an overall profit of: $15,452,600,371
  • Sony shipped 266M home consoles combined for an overall profit of: $264,220,482

But I feel its important and fair to note that Sony deliberately did not take advantage of gamers whereas Nintendo and Microsoft are notorious for taking great profit at the expense of gamers. This is another reason why Nintendo and Microsoft should be grouped together as the 'naughty camp' whereas I feel Sony should stand alone as the 'good guys' here.

So now let it not be said that the Wii cannot sell hardcore games, or the Xbox cannot make a profit because when you combine them together they are both profitable and sell hardcore games. Now my point is this. Its not relevant at all to combine the HD console sales except on the occasion when talking about overall marketing for 3rd party software. In terms of individual performance the Wii stands alone and lets not ever forget it. Don't get too used to hiding behind a pair of platforms because if they want to they can do it back against you since all is fair in love and vgchartz.
