It's the highest week no matter the many excuses I have read in this thread.

Well, if we're not taking any context into account, the highest week is actually for DS when FFXII: Revenant Wings released (~285k).

fine, it's second if it's mean so much to you.

Doesn't mean anything to me.  The reason hardware sales were so high at FFXIIRW launch was due chiefly to timing (it was golden week) and the extremely high baseline popularity of the platform (DS Lite in early 2007).

In FFXIII's case, I'd say the game did push hardware directly, and likely moreso than any previous FF ever has (at launch).  But there are reasons for that (PS3 being a relatively unpopular platform, huge 100k shipment of "limited" bundles for collectors) and it wasn't the only hardware driver (holiday ramp up, slim/pricecut sustained momentum).  Context is key, I'll always favor a better understanding to a superficial one.  It's not about "excuses", it's about getting the full picture.

here we go:

Now how many PS3 did you predict for that week? For all the context, none of you expected the ps3 to sell that much or FFXIII to have any impact, infact, i remember people saying most FFXIII  fans bought their systems already.

Many of you downplayed how big that week would be, but now context is being used, give me a break.

Er, I've already said it did better than I expected (~200k) and that FFXIII's likely pushed hardware more than any previous entry?  I'm not really sure what you're arguing over?

that's the question i was asking you.

It did better than we all expected, it set records for the console, but you are the one downplaying it sales.
