The dives in the Ar Tonelico series easily rival it. Sadly those games were plagued by poor localization by NIS at the time. As for stories, Xenogears, Valkyrie Profile 1 and 2, Vagrant Story, Parasite Eve 1, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross easily surpass it. All LO did was provide the Xbox fans with a JRPG that is finally worth mentioning on that system. Hell even Shadow Hearts: Covenant had a better story.

What an excellent game that was. One of my favorite series from last gen.

Easily surpasses LO in my opinion. LO bored me to tears leading into disc 4, I stopped playing shortly after.
