Honestly where I live we did have surplus for months of all consoles now however you are stretched to find either a Wii or a 360 for that matter. The only console in abundant supply is the PS3. That said I think the back stock in North America of the more popular consoles is being depleted at an alarming rate.
I think over the past month the surplus of both Microsoft and Nintendo has taken a tremendous hit, and we are now to a point of production being the only relevant number in the equation. Can Nintendo produce that many units in this short a time. I doubt it greatly, and neither had any reason to horde supply a sale is a sale. Only retailers have a reason to hold off on supply.
By the way supposedly this Friday there is supposed to be a large supply of Wiis and 360s hitting stores. So if your in the market for one that would be the best time to go shopping if you have had trouble finding either.
