I thought america wasnt suffering a shortage? hiked prices are common in the UK. the Wii goes for £250 ($500) on ebay all day long, without wiiplay.
There were some selling for £400+ upto Christmas last year, I expect similar this year although I do know that there are some people with 200+ consoles waiting to dump them all on ebay, so maybe such a high amount will mean bids dont go so high.
I do think its unfair, but Nintendo did say that this will happen months ago, you cant blame those people that actually listened and bought a few in advance for making a quick buck. If those people can buy them, anyone can (or at least could)
It does make you wonder just how much more that the RRP that people would have paid anyway with literally 100's selling on ebay every day for £250
