Id say no one cares about UK sales, while Japan has exclusives for that region, they release their own numbers for people who are interested in what they show etc. UK isn't of any interest.
UK is Europe.. no one sits and go "i can't wait to see how this and that game does in the UK". But articles, forums and news sites post massive amount of content on how games and consoles does in Japan.
UK is boring.
