It's simple - because the Wii is worth that $500 to them, and they consider cheaper ones hard enough to find so that the msrp is a non-issue when they decide to drop that sort of money to get one.  If it wasn't worth that much to them, they wouldn't have bought it for that much.  Aahhh, supply and demand....how I wish I had an extra Wii to sell on ebay
