Game prices didn't go up in Japan like it did here? Either way, even if it made more revenue... it likely made less profit.
Still all considering, it did well considering how deficient the platform is compaired to the PS2. Sure FFX started off with a similar userbase... but there was also a lot more hype and good feelings about the PS3.
It seems like it will hit the SE prediction about square on the head. All that's important is that the brand wasn't damaged. I'd be surprised if we saw a FF15 this generation though. I kinda expect 13, 14... and then that to be it unless the generation is prolonged by the financial troubles of Sony and the economic downturn in general.

when all is said and done, FFxiii may bring in more profit (at least more than ffxii did considering ffxiii has a prolonged dev time as well). It all depends on the game's reception in the U.S. If it's received well here, the 360 is sure to sell a couple (probably over a million or even more), maybe even more than the ps3 and that'll put it ahead of ffxii but still not the high point of the series (ffvii).

I dunno. They both had a prolonged dev time... but FF13 cost more to begin with. Delays seem to proportionally raise cost.
It's possible, but i'd honestly be shocked if it was the case.
