Sony can't afford it, period.  Besides, their stock was massively reduced in the Enix buyout (from 20% to 8.5%) and rendered non-voting.

That said, Microsoft won't do it either.  They're divesting themselves of developers, not acquiring them.  And they've already got what they wanted from SE anyway (Final Fantasy).
