I really don't understand these western companies wanting to break in the Japanese market. I don't. It's high risk and not enough payoff. Western market is not only easier to work with, but will probably make you more money.

You know who gets the Japanese market? Japanese people. Let them handle it.

Probably because the Japanese are making games for Western markets so Western developers feel the need to develop for Japanese markets as thanks.  That's just my theory though.
