Nintendo this gen is pretty much putting out good efforts on all of its major series, new and old. From Mario and Zelda to Metroid and Wario to Kirby and Mario Kart Wii to Smash Bros and Pokemon to Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem to Punch Out and Excitebike. Nearly all of Nintendos major franchises and even many of Nintendos smaller and forgotten series have been hit upon this gen. And of course, their whole new 'Wii' series of games. If anything, Nintendo has done MORE this gen than past gens.
The only ones which haven't been hit upon yet really are Star Fox, F-Zero, Pikmin and Pilotwings. But with various rumors and even some hints from heads at Nintendo, its pretty evident that these games are also being worked on in Nintendo. Even with these games not getting a release yet, its pretty evident why these games haven't seen a release immediately. They have never been Nintendos major sellers. Nintendo came out strong early on in its first two years focusing on its heavy hitting series. And it was a winning strategy. Perhaps now in the Wiis mid to late life cycle we will see some of these medium to light selling series such as Pikmin or F-Zero. Unlike during the GameCube era where they led the consoles development and, consequently, the console faltered.
