Unless you are talking about core franchises. Then I'll agree with you. There haven't been many of those. Nintendo's main effort this console has been building up franchises for the expanded audience that didn't really have any. |
You just gave me an interesting idea.
Let's see, total software sold on Wii, by Nintendo: 213.63 million (160 million without Wii Sports)
Total from new franchises: Roughly 130 million (a tad below 80 million without Wii Sports)
In other words: New franchises account for more than half of the revenue and more than half of the titles played on Wii. That might be a slight exaggeration, but it's pretty close.
