I can't pin down exactly when it happened, but based on my recollection of the last time I remembered it as being better,
one or more of the following three things have brought my economy down from "substantial" to "small":
-- people having the option to pay taxes with blood, body parts, etc.
-- media people being legally held responsible for the accuracy of their reporting
-- adultery being legal
