Well seems like the next game on the series'll be more like the first gamecube game.
S: What do you think is the next step for the Crystal Chronicles series? Will it go back to its multiplayer roots or a deeper single player storyline?
AK: The Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles multiplayer games for GameCube and DS has many fans, so we would like to continue creating new entries in that direction. On the other hand, the open field game system for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers has many possibilities for further evolution, so I would like to spend some more time with it as well. But there’s only one of me, so I’m not sure which project I will be able to take on next.

So its either one or the other.I mean, going back to gc style wasnt working saleswise really anymore. The latest usual CC games were not selling really properly. At least CB is to be released in US . I dont think square is aiming to return to a formula that is not making them money anymore.

If you add the Wii and DS versions of Echoes of Time, each CC game has passed the half mil mark. WiiWare numbers are unknown. I'm pretty sure Square Enix is making money off the franchise or they would've stopped making them along time ago.

yes, and still is lower sales then the previous CC iterations, not to mention CB didnt have a portable counterpart to speak of. I think SE is making money ,but is making LESS money than in the Cube era. And i think that is in their interest to revitalize the series to sell back to original levels, otherwise, it will make less and less money until is no profitable anymore. You take those desicions before that happens.
