I'm not the right person to tell because I never played Silent Hill before (just the first one for a few minutes). I knew about the games and how were they like though, so I can say that Shattered Memories is a different and fresh take on the series.
If you want your traditional Silent Hill this one isn't it. But if you like adventure-exploration games and good stories, I seriously recommend this one.
