1.Soldat by Knappe (i think)

-German WW2 artillery major chronicles his initial training, and later fight against the Soviets, and even toward the end game, when the soviets are near berlin. It's interesting to see that not all of the germans were with hitler politically. Very philosophical, excellent first hand account from the side that gets overlooked.

2. Persepolis

Iranian girl grows up, moves to france for college, etc. The book is very good, in graphic novel form and covers a fictional account of the islamic revolution,  an iranian perspective of the iran/iraq war, dealing with a country that has had a lot of turbulent things basically. The best part about the book are the accompanying drawings, particularly with the facial expressions. I'm in sales and facial expressions are basically my technology, so it's nice to see an artist that could do so well with this, particularly when for many artists, faces are a hard thing to do well.
