The Wii has actually been very good to me as a PS3 owner, When I bought my PS3, I expected it to be the number system, by Sony Fucked up with the price, so I was stuck with a third place console. But because the Wii although the best selling console in the market, the fastest selling console ever did not become what the PS2 was, I actually get games,  the big ones.

But that's also where I think Nintendo messed up too, I should be wanting to get the Wii as a core game fan, How many Nintendo fans bought a PS2 last Gen, a lot right. But, The Wii while gaining a new market of non-gamers, It's not gaining the people who actually will stay with you for a long time.

I really have no worry of the Wii, their fans is what get to me. PLease stop acting like you guys are smarter, I saw that post, plenty of people in my family own a Wii, and they are no smarter than me. And core values, seriously, all of us are the same really, I like Sony for a reason just like someone like MS for a reason, you are not that special.

And last,

There is no war against the Wii, that's the price you pay when you are numer 1, you get critized more , analyzed more and more people are jealous of you. When ever you are the best or lead at anything the media will find ways to get you. that's the way things are, ask Tiger woods, Obama, Ipod.

I actually agree with that. My only complaint this generation is more games are not on all 3 home consoles. I cannot understand why people would exclude a portion of the gamer fanbase. I suppose there must be some rational that is lost on me. Logic dictates that the guy getting paid tens of millions of dollars has a better idea of how to keep a company going than I do. I just wish they would enlighten me at the least.

Here is my problem with people blaming Nintendo for the lack of core games on the Wii. The core game list currently is absolutely dominated by Nintendo properties. How can you fault a company that is showing so much love to that demographic? One could argue that they are not good at courting third parties. This is reasonable, but hardly new. Hell, they are doing about a bazilllion times better than last generation.

I do have a question for you. Let us assume that you are right and Nintendo's main audience is these "non-gamers" that have not played before. How long should you expect them to last? Based on their previous video game buying habits that is. I am going to guess you will say low, and I will counter by asking for evidence. We do not know how long these people will be around. What we know is Nintendo offered them a product they desired, and it was bought by them. Why would they magically stop being enticed by similar offerings? What is inherent to this undefined demographic that means they will go away? As noname remembers as well there was an almost identical backlash against the Madden et al crowd during the PS1 rise to dominance.

The Wii fans act like they are smarter for the same reason the PS2 fans did. They are "winning" and thus get to preen and crow about how great they are.  As you say later, this is just the result of being number 1. If it is directed at me, well I can say it has nothing to do with the Wii. I am just naturally a very arrogant person. I don't actually think I am smarter than  any other given person though. I do think I have a better perspective than 90% of the people on internet message boards, but that is hardly a feat.

Any term I used in quotes was because I don't agree with the usage. There is no war. There is a lot more backlash than we saw against the PS2 last gen. There is probably about as much as there was against the PS1, or NES. Gamers just don't play well with others for some reason. When new people come in it appears the natural reaction is to look down our noses at the new guy. I was extremely guilty of this when we saw the rise of the sports games in the 90s which is why I have such a good perspective on it today.

@epicurean
That article is, similarly, mostly garbage. This is not really the thread to has that out in though. We have one somewhere around here where I will gladly pick apart a lot of the stupid things he says. The short version is that appealing to a different audience does not make them lazy. It just means they are appealing to a different audience that doesn't care about what others would like to see implemented.

Edit: Oh whoops. I completely mis-read your achievments/motion control comment. My bad. I must say that I might disagree on specifics but I do respect your stance. We might never agree on what is the most epic game ever, but I imagine we could at least respect that the other person's choice is valid. A rare, and extremely awesome quality on the internet.
