And really, how useless of a handle is 'hardcore'. Animal Crossing and the Gamecube are hardcore now? Animal Crossing may need to be checked every day, but so does Farmville and its ilk, and lets not forget that the Wii iteration is outselling the GC version despite alienated fans and the DS version has quadrupled the original's sales, so clearly new fans have been made. And the Gamecube? Really? No amount of make-believe can cover up the mountains of excrement the 'industry journalist collective' heaped upon the little lunchbox that could, and that was when it actually was interchangeable with its competitors. Should Nintendo return to the cutting-edge software and critical darlings that were Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Wind Waker and the Mario Sports pantheon? Do we really need a THIRD console with which to earn virtual pat-on-the-backs in an identical version of Call of Duty 8?
