Hmmmm, very touchy subject. I will start by saying that I own atari 2600, commodore 64 (semi-deceased though :/), NES, Genesis, PS1,2,3, PSP, Gameboy SP, and at one point or another for several months at a time I have swapped consoles with friends to get a taste of Gamecube, Dreamcast, Saturn, Turbo Graphix 16, SNES. Some comments are outright stupid and seem to be aimed at starting crap. In response to the person who dismissed L4D vs RE, there is no comparisson, L4D takes it in all categories, even the co-op is very exciting and the multiplayer does keep you at the edge of your seat at ALL times (only game in the RE series that has come close is RE4 SPECIFICALLY the Wii version).

As far as the Wii, although I do not currently own one, I have borrowed it for several months at a time. My experience on the Wii can be described in 1 word...fun. In my PERSONAL preferance, I will stay with my PS3, HOWEVER to dismiss the positives of the Wii, is complete fanboyism. So what if you can play MW2 on 360/PS3? I couldn't care less for that game (laugh but I prefer KZ2). MW2 felt like the first time I saw Star Wars Ep. 1....the highlight of the movie was the podracers oh and the final fight, BIG shiny rollercoaster ride that lasted all but 5 min, but once the smoke cleared....utter emptiness. I enjoyed the RE4 experience on the Wii moreso than on my PS2. I still think Dead Space would have succeeded on the Wii if they didn't make it a rail shooter, but that's another story. Yes, the Wii has been plagued by shovelware and some subpar titles but then you do have gems that come out such as SMG, Twilight Princess, SSBB, and to a lesser extent NSMBW. Now I say to a lesser extent on that last title as personal preferance as SMB3 was the high point for me, although I applaud N64 for making their SMB one of the first TRUE 360 degree 3D games. Nintendo's virtual console I find to be nearly on par to PSN's lineup and above XBL's. Main reason for this is because lets face it, the NES has had AMAZING titles and the addition of Blaster Master almost made me wet my pants.

Sure I am not a fan of Wii sports or any of those titles that I PERSONALLY consider as subpar in comparisson to what Nintendo is capable of. The Metroid series just yells greatness. Now just because I am not a fan of the previously mentioned title for example, does not mean that it isn't any good (thanks to those "subpar" titles, ALOT more people have been brought into gaming to join our community). Just like the next guy may not find Uncharted 2 appealing, I don't find Animal Crossing appealing either. It is a matter of tastes in the end. And just when I think that Nintendo went the lazy route by adding a "gimmick" BOOM! we get Twilight Princess, then we say "oh but that was just 1 game" then BAM! No More Heroes. You see, Nintendo this gen reminds me of that phrase from The Devil's Advocate "never let em see ya commin' "

Wii may be the best system in some people's eyes (in my own, it's the PS3), it may be the 360 for others, and it may be the PS3 for others. Each system has to be thanked for one thing or another. The Wii should be thanked for A: having groundbreaking mass appeal to the point that nongamers become part of our small gaming community, B: introducing what many viewed as a "gimmick" known as the motion control, C: providing competition by taking things from a different angle, forcing everyone else to both adapt and follow suit in innovation.

Do you honestly thing xbox would have pushed Natal without the Wii's successful motion control, or Sony the Playstation wand? I highly doubt it. As a hardcore Sony fan all I can do is thank the Wii for forcing the competition to improve because lets face it, until 2009, the titles out for 360 and PS3 were horrid. Some well say "oh but HALO, GEARS OF WAR, MASS EFFECT, RESISTANCE, "....hmmm I wonder what they all have in common....At least this year we see, Demon's Souls, Infamous (i know, a few glitches here and there, still great overall. Want glitches? see Mass Effect), AC2, Uncharted 2, Batman:AA, etc.

I will say this though, ninty has not been perfect either (hoppin off the nuts now). It is inexcusable how more advantage has not been taken of the motion controls. Dead Space was a great example. RE: darkside chronicles is interesting because it's an established franchise, but still. Just like they updated RE1 for the Gamecube, they could have done the same for RE2 and made it play like RE4 Wii, now THAT would have been something. You see, Nintendo like Sony both have several games from the past to either remake or in better cases, do a sequel of. Ninty could easily look back at their Megaman franchise as well as Blaster Master, and god forbid they decide to touch River City Ransom. I would hope you guys remember that game, because as a true NES fan, it was one of my favorite games along with Ninja Gaiden, Bad Dudes, etc. Ninty hasthe ability to put out more AAA titles without dealing with the expensive side that PS3/360 have to deal with. I don't want to come off as an a-hole when I say this but Wii fans should be demanding more out of Nintendo, NOT in terms of graphics or all that shiny crap, but more along the lines of more diverse titles that can EASILY be heavy hitters but most importantly fun (Sony fans have demanded alot and we seem to be finally getting it....FINALLY). Anyways have a good one.

P.S. Podcast was kinda crazy and they did come off super anti-Wii which works for them temporarily but may hurt in the long run.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.
