Nintendo didn't work with fighters but Brawl was a great success(were it as clean as VF i might just say the best in the genre).  They don't work with FP games but people speak highly of metroid prime series.  They find success even with things they aren't the most familiar.  I believe I can fault companies for not trying new things they haven't done before when they have a nice and successful history of it.  Although i suppose it's just me thinking the new stuff isn't terribly interesting.  NVM.

I can definitely respect you wanting them to expand into new genres. It falls apart when you expect them to expand into specific new genres. It is impossible to fault them for not making the specific game you want.

While Metroid does make a great FPS, is that the style of epic FPS you were talking about? I am going to guess no. I can definitely respect not liking their games, or even just their latest efforts. You can't please all the people all the time. But to pin all the short comings in the game library on any one company is over the top in my eyes. The areas Nintendo could be expected to help in is on them. Pikmin could help the RTS genre grow, and it has been entirely absent.

I could care less about those genres personally (except third person action).  I just think that they might be far more successful than they think as well as changing the nature of those games(maybe even making them something i can enjoy).  We wouldn't even be on here having this discussion if they had a few more titles in said genres being publicized. That's mostly my point. Considering if the normal cycle is true we will see another Nintendo console in 2011 they don't even have time to start them and get them out by the time it will matter.
