New super mario bros is a good example. In Japan you will see many on the train play a level in the train but probably never finish it. While their are also a group who will finish the game and get everything out of it.  The thing is that probably most people who bought it belong in the casual audience that's why some call it a casual game.  That has always been the power of the nintendo, would games as brawl sold that well without Nintendo characters in it?  I think Miyamoto even said it, my games are targeted for everyone but gamers can join them aswell, that is the power of nintendo'.
