If the shortage is planned then Sony will surely mess it up in the end.
The Core gamer who has been waiting for the price drop has already picked it up, now the main market is the grandmas that are looking for the best value when looking for a gift for her grandchildren. The grandmas (who pushed a hoop with a stick) will not be around after the holidays season is over. If Sony is smart then they would stock the shelves for the Christmas shoppers.
