Remember, hype = advertising. If they don't have the advertising budget, then they can't hype the game. Bigger games get bigger advertising budgets, and therefore get more hype. Heck, Motorstorm Artic Edge, and the latest Ratchet & Clank both launched to minimal hype. Afrika was hyped before it released in Japan, then completely fell of the charts. To top it off, hyping a game that flops is just bad. Had Nintendo hyped Excitebots and it failed, would you listen to them for the next game they hyped? |
Now that you mention it, I haven't seen any marketing for any of those Sony games. This year I have seen, Madden, LBP, Killzone2, MGS4, and Uncharted 2, and maybe an MLB game. Outside of that, nothing.
