I honestly think that while LBP's multiplayer was great, it just could not compare to NSMBW's.
Perhaps it's just my friends and I, but we found that Mario's multiplayer was far more entertaining.
Whether it was working together on co-op, or coin battles, it was always a blast. Being able to things like stealing power-ups, throwing my friends into enemies, jumping on them over gaps, or taking coins right under their noses really sealed the deal for me. There was never quiet as we were always yelling at each other to "do this" or "don't do that" and it was pretty much a constant party.
LBP just couldn't stir up the same excitement and enjoyment as NSMBW.
