Seems you are the one needing to admit you're wrong. 1./ you forget your buddy's statement on precision and chose instead to focus on the one of better/worse controls 2./ none of these comments actually state that the wii version has better controls - none - a ton of them were provided but none is relevant.
And to all those who thought i ran away, remember the thing your parents do ? That's right : work... I stated three points, which I maintain and I simply don't get how you haven't understood them already 1/ you should not bash journalists for having a different opinion than yours. One of you had a thoughtful comparison with book critics. It's exactly like that. Elle magazine might recommend chick-lit while the TLS will recommend Geert Mak's In Europe. Game Informer is simply not wii-oriented. It's not that they are biased they simply that their standards are "traditional". The TLS (king of book critics) dislikes almost all chick-lit, and it doesn't mean they are biased, its' simply not the same type product so the criterias they use are in disfavour of chick-lit de facto. 2/ the controls on a wii-mote cannot be as precise as those of a pad. It's an obvious fact and i am amazed that no one seems to understand that. The input from the wii-mote is affected by the orientation towards the tv, that of the receiver next to the tv, the lighting, the shaking of your arms, etc. While the pad is actually transmitting the movements of our most precise bodypart : fingers. 3/ here is the controversial point : "better controls". No reviewer stated better controls of a version over another simply because you cannot compare oranges and trees. The pad doesn't require you to move off from the sofa while the wii-mote requires some gesticulation especially if you're trying to simulate a golf swing. Some of them did recommend the wii version for its' controls (two on the list) but that's actually a parabole, a bold claim to be understood rather than believed. When you see a book title "501 must see movies" they actually do not expect you to watch each of them and even less that you would like each of them. Even with "the wii version's controls are so innovative and efficient they will make your xbox and ps3 owning friends dead jealous" the claim is to be understood and interpreted as : "this is some of the best wii-mote controlling out there, some pad users might prefer using the wii-mote this time around, if they are wii-mote compatible to start with that is".
Well, that's all folks |
Actually when they're all saying "the definitive one to get because of the controls" that means "this one controls better".
Not sure how up and up you are with definitions:
Precise: exact in measuring, recording, etc.: a precise instrument (like wii motion plus!)
Abstraction: the act of considering something as a general quality or characteristic, apart from concrete realities, specific objects, or actual instances. (I.E. pushing a round button to make a golf club swing)
Working with different definitions of precise, but oh well.
1) Yes, we should bash journalists, because they're not above criticism and in some cases beg for it. I mean we're not talking about Christopher Hitchens' Vanity Fair writings or Jeremy Scahill's investigative journalism, we're talking about some guy who plays video games and then shits out his opinion. Opinions are fine when they're based in reality, when they're not it's basically trolling and in this case crappy journalism. Something the video games industry is notorious for.
As for your last 2 points, you're intentionally distorting the overwhelming evidence and putting it in as obtuse as possible of an interpretation to support your bullshit claim. I'd go deeper but it's not really arguing at this point besides "NUH UH" "YEAH HUH" so you'll walk away goin "I showed them!" and the rest of the thread will walk away goin "Damn that guy got owned like a slave"
