It also had 2 200k+ selling new releases (Gundam N+ & PSP2).  Last year it did 70k with no notable releases.  In 2007 it did 90k with just Mingol P2 (which did only 85k). 

PSP's significant YOY decline is the most underreported story coming out of Japan.  Wii's comparable decline's gotten huge press though.

69k vs 70k, Sony needs to do someting fast.

No, it's 69k with the platform's #3 and #4 best selling series having sequels versus 70k with NOTHING.  Wii at least sold 100k this year with Mario and Musou backing it, but only 50k last year.

PSP's had a mini-recovery after it's own price drop in October though, so it's not as bad as it was earlier in the year.  Just seems strange to me that no one really points out it's significant decline this past year... I sort of wonder if PS3's resurgence is eating into it more than it is Wii?

69k is fine for the PSP and it should have good sales in December. The Go is a failure, but as a whole, the device is doing well in japan eventhough it's  down. Last year, they were like 50 different weeks with a new color coming out.

69k with it's two biggest releases this year isn't exactly "fine".  Put this in perspective...
