Luckily, all that ever happens in that regard in the US is grandstanding Congressional hearings and the passage of unenforceable, unconstitutional laws.

My sympathies go out to my fellow gamers in Australia. The question is how to get someone to realize that these are not "children's toys"?

The stupid thing is the guy who is trying to get the game's MA15+ rating overturned is the same guy who is effectively blocking the introduction of an 18+ rating for videogames. So rather than being "for the sake of the kids" as it is claimed, it's one man effectively exercising the power to censor game content which should be freely available to adults in this country.

I'm not even that interested in getting the game but it makes me so mad.

Nothing like a front-bencher in a safe district for the ALP.

Sounds like there needs to be a little bit of a political controversy to get him out of office (I was going to say firestorm -- but then remembered that probably is not a good word choice where Australia is concerned).

The $64 (USD) question ($70 AUD) is why is he so against an 18+ game-rating?

I'd go for ignorance, but that's just a guess.
