MEGATON OF THE MONTH!
@you guys fighting about the 3 kings of platforming, you're all jerks. There are obviously 4 kings of platforming: Mario, Mega Man, Sonic, and Donkey Kong. They are each kings for different reasons. Mario for flying and jumping and killing the sun and making the best transition to 3-D where he reinvented platforming all over again, Sonic for the super speed and loop de loops and attitude, Mega Man for stealing guns from bosses and having millions of guns and gizmos and a hoverdog and disappearing blocks, and Donkey Kong for inventing all this gangsta shit and for being the first evil villain to come back as a hero.
Kirby and Contra are not kings of platforming. Contra is actually a king of run-and-gunning, and Kirby, I don't know, he's great and all, but you can fly through the whole games, making the actual platforming unnecessary.
