Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat is probaly the best game Donkey Kong has ever been in.  It's an interesting take of the genre and the jungle rhythm really sets it apart from anything else in the genre.  Mario truly is no argument.  Kirby, while his recent DS outings range from well realised remakes to decent new games with interesting mechanics, is king of the handheld platformer (If you don't include Mario).
