In fact, FFVII wouldn't even make my top 100 best games of all time list. Nor my top 200, really. The only good part of the game was the ground-breaking pre-rendering work, especially in the first 8 or so hours (in Midgar).

I agree with you, except to say FFVII is one of the WORST games I've ever played.  In fact, this game is the first I can remember to put me literally to sleep while trying to play it.  It's that horrible.  Of course, FFVIII is even worse, but that's another discussion!
