So, tell me, besides Gears and halo, what 360 exclusives have done "gangbusters"?

Fable's pretty huge, Forza as well (though bundling pushed that).  Both are comparable to Sony's top exclusives sales wise so far (while Gears and especially Halo are a league above them).

LBP had EU hardware bundles though iirc?  It also sort of flopped at first (took FOREVER to hit a million), but took off after it hit the bargain bins.  Sort of like Uncharted 1, it eventually crawled to success.

Halo is the equivalent to Gran Tursimo on the sales front, the game many people seem to forget was always Sony's big seller besides Final Fantasy.

Gears is the kicker for Microsoft, as it was a new IP that did extremely well. It deserves much credit.

Fable did well, but not a HUGE franchise like Gears or Halo. Considering Sony has far more IPs than Microsoft, I'd say they are doing quite well, and haven't even released their biggest seller yet.Sure, some of their bigger IPs could have done better, but then again, looking at the past, PlayStation franchises never really had numbers of that magintude outside of GTA (now multiplat), FF & GT.

The point stands.

GT's about Sony only comparable IP, but pretty much everything of theirs has taken a significant tumble this gen.  GT might be the exception, but don't be surprised if it takes the same proportional drop we saw with Sony's other 1st party series on PS3.  Really, it reminds a bit of Nintendo's base/fall/rise from N64/GC/Wii, the bigger the brand, the more total userbase affects sales.

And Fable's not near as big as Halo/Gears, but then neither is anything Sony's put out.  Fable II outsold every 1st party PS3 release this gen so far.  If Gears is the cutoff for HUGE, then for 1st party consoles we have...

Nintendo: Wii Sports/Play/Fit, Super Mario (+Kart/Party), Zelda

Microsoft: Halo, GOW

Sony: probably just GT
