Trying to create so much original and powerful music with limited hardware under such a timetable must have been horribly straining. And I can see why later works had a different style of more 'main themes' and 'background songs'. He didn't want to go through what he did on FFVI again, but SE was requiring him to constantly make longer and longer OSTs. |
That's where our opinions split very deeply, as I like FF IX's soundtrack much, much more than VI's. I won't bother posting examples here, but you can ask me for them if you like.
