According to NPD, 70% of Wii owners had a PS2.  Even if 100% of PS3 owners had a PS2, 70% of the Wii base is still nearly double that.

off topic so wiis so called blue ocean is just PS2 doing. 

It was from August's "cross-platform trends" report or something.  I'll see if I can find the reference on Gamasutra.

 

And yeah, I'd agree that a lot of the "Blue Ocean" trends get overblown... Wii is bringing in new consumers (moreso than any console since the NES or PS1 probably) but the majority of Wii owners aren't new to gaming or consoles.
