Tail off means slow down, drop away. i.e I expect it to track ahead of the DS version until the first week of Jan where it should start to fall behind and probably end up not having quite the legs but should still make 4 - 4.5m without too much trouble (whereas DS should clear 6).

Reggie said that NSMB Wii would outsell the 360 version of MW2 in the US as of the end of Jan - which it won't, but it won't be as far behind as some people think. Worldwide, it should easily be higher than the 360 version by Jan and should outsell the 360+PS3 versions combined before the end of 2010.

NA currently

360 MW2 4.3m

NSMB 1.5m

by close wat do u think theyll be end of jan?

WW currently

360 MW2 6.3

NSMB 2.2

again r saying nsmb will beat MW2 360 ww end of jan 2010 or beginning?

even if mw2 360 doesnt sell a single copy from now till then nsmb will have 2 sell another 3mll in 2 or 1 month(s) and mw2 has to sell none for it to beat it by then

nsmb beating both by end of 2010

MW2 ps360 10.4

nsmb 2.2

dont know bout that one it may or may not we still need to se each games legs after jan

i dont c nsmb beating mw2 360 ww by jan or being close to it in NA though

Last year, CoD5 sold ~2.4mil between Dec & Jan. If we assume MW2 sells a bit more (3 2.7mil), 360 MW2 will be at ~9mil by the end of Jan.

NSMB (DS) in Japan sold ~2.3mil in its first 2 months in Japan. Due to releasing in the holiday season, I think it's reasonable to say NSMBWii will make at least 2mil there by February.

That would mean the rest of the world needs ~4.8mil sales from Dec & Jan. It might be a stretch, but not impossible - 2.3 million in Americas (MK did over 1.6m) and 2.5 million in Others (MK did 1.7m). I'm assuming NSMB Wii is a big hit, and it sells faster than MK Wii due to being a recent release (and a larger userbase).

I'm guessing it overtakes it by the end of March, mainly because it's hard for me to believe that NSMB Wii can pull off these numbers (though it very well may). Can you imagine how crazy it'd be if NSMB Wii manages 3 weeks, maybe 4 above 1 million (week ending 5th, 12th, 19th, with 26th possible), that would be insane...
