You don't need to break records to have a good opening week. Particularly Japan, where far too many games have underperformed lately. I'm not certain, but I believe this is the biggest home console launch of this gen in Japan. That really is not something to scoff at.
Yeah, Dragon Quest sold better. But try finding something that doesn't launch better than DQ in Japan. As I said, breaking records isn't needed for a good launch. Or a great launch, for that matter.

Proof? Very simple: on the one hand they make the "mistake" of comparing MW2 WW debut numbers ON 2 CONSOLES to NSMBWii Japan debut numbers. Could be a newbie mistake, right? Wrong, since they are VERY fast to point out to what the highest selling VG opening in Japan was in 2009.

What about Halo? It sold 2.8 million and was on one console, and it was in 2007.
