You don't need to break records to have a good opening week. Particularly Japan, where far too many games have underperformed lately. I'm not certain, but I believe this is the biggest home console launch of this gen in Japan. That really is not something to scoff at.

Yeah, Dragon Quest sold better. But try finding something that doesn't launch better than DQ in Japan. As I said, breaking records isn't needed for a good launch. Or a great launch, for that matter.

Final Fantasy 13 will tear this "record" apart.

I don't think anyone is calling this a "record" except you.

Everyone is happy because the game is selling well based on the Japanese gaming market standard and better than most first week expectation.
