Halo was a new I.P once, Call of Duty was a strong but not much more franchise, Mario was a new I.P once, and GT sold 10M when it was released. No theres a reason....
Sony tries to make games with good graphics, cinematic story lines etc. Nintendo makes them look like idiots and reaps in the cash by focusing on just game mechanics. Sure the critics don't like what Nintendo do, but it shows in the sales that the things Sony gives their games are things that for the most part people don't particularly care for as on the HD consoles and on the Wii the games with poorer graphics have sold heaps whilst Sony's graphics masterpieces have been relatively overlooked.
The two highest selling games on the PS3 aren't even HD!
