I don't see a resemblance AT ALL
Please do a side to side image comparison if you will, I have tried & tried to see similarities, but have found none
they have similarities, but thats because they are Nomura creations, beyond that there is no significant similarity, no-one is in denial here but yourself

As for the characteristics, I have read her back story & have seen her in the final trailer.....puh lease, she is nothing like cloud

I truly believe Nomura has harmed final fantasy after making it so popular, also it isn't him alone, given this is going to be redemption of the franchise that has been lost for sometime. The proof is already shown to you, from him being quoted and from picture that shows it.

what matters here is lightnings personality & motivations throughout the game
from the material we have so far, they are nowhere near what clouds motivations or initial attitude were in the game
And how has the Franchise been "lost" for sometime, I wouldn't call the franchise being lost considering FF12 sold more than 99% of RPG's & was a critical mega hit.

Lot of franchises lose what is important to them and still are sucessful, Resident Evil, Grand Theft Auto and so on.
In final fantasy case, I believe they "lost" the focus on story and characters, as seen in FFX-2 and FFXII.
Also i never said Lightning Personality and motivations are the same as Cloud...till this day I have no fricken idea what Cloud's Motivations are besides that he was originally getting paid and some useless character died which he couldn't use phoenix down on.

Now onto the FF franchise:
Focus on characters & story.....I'm sorry but while FF12 had the weakest story since FF10-2 there was still focus on the characters & the story
You must also understand that the main head of the FF12 project left it mid way, there were many reasons for it turning out the way it did, thats the primary reason.
We cannot say that the franchise has been lost at all, & like it or not RE, GTA & so on have branched out, they are not lost
