What do you think about this immersive game? Kind of like the holodeck in Star Trek.

How would you like to see this kind of technology used.

I came across this project whilst doing research for my PhD at University (Note: The project in the video is nothing to do with mine). What do you think about this kind of technology? And what do you think would be a great way for interacting in this kind of system?

My project is basically looking at human interaction within a virtual environment. Particularly for picking up virtual objects and manipulating them with your real hands.

I'm looking at developing/improving forms of interaction between humans and virtual objects, I've had a few ideas about how to manipulate virtual objects with your hands such as stereoscopic triangulation, whereby a two cameras from different angles measure the perimeter of hand gestures in two dimensions and works out the gesture in three dimensions for accurate object tracking and manipulation.

I've also considered other forms like infra-red blob array tracking (which works fairly well for a few points of interaction), using mems chips to form a data glove (which is in a way similar to how the wii remote works, but in a data glove form) and so on.

It would be nice to have some user input on what would be a good way to interact though.
