Carl2291, Seece is right in this case. The PS1, PS2, and PSP all had significant hardware issues. The PS1 had DRE and overheating issues. The PS2 had significant DRE issues. The PSP had dead pixel and misaligned button issues. If Sony can put out a more durable product like the PS3 after all of that, why couldn't a 360 redesign be more reliable. Especially when the original Xbox was more reliable than the PS1 and PS2.

Great post, didn't realise all those Sony consoles had issues, thought it was just the PS2!

The ps1 and psp issues were lesser in scope and are mostly ignored, but the fact does remain, ps2 > ps3 improved reliability...why can't 360?

The PS1 issues were significant. The PSP issues was resolved relatively quickly. The PS1 wasn't designed for extended use. Sony latter admitted that fact. They designed the system to be played for a couple hours at a time max. The system lacked the proper ventilation and it would overheat. The overheating issues were solved first but the DRE issues persisted until the PS One released.
