Now I couldn't care less about GTA Next and were it shows up. I know I will by it have my 10 to 15 hours of fun, and be done. So thats my disclaimer.

Here is my take on this situation if I was the Take Two guy calling the shots. Last gen they proved that they could sell more units being exclusive, than they have this gen being on multiple platforms. The Xbox 360 is holding back the ability to advance the overall game experiance due to its storage format. Previous games have set a standard of being able to start a mission in one part of the map and fly across the whole game world without any pause. To make an experiance that truly tops GTA:SA it would require the 360 version to use more than one disc. Therefore driving up the cost of the physical product, and lowering the quality of the experiance on one or both of the platfoms.

If they stick to just making a PS3 version of the game, they have a lot of advantages.

1. They can eliminate any costs of porting the game to the 360, plus they don't have to bite the bullet on the multi disc charge on 360 games.
2. Without the limitations of the DVD they can expand the game world and content, to make a game well beyond any GTA before.
3. By working exclusivly on one platform, it makes it easier to write more dedicated code, resulting in a better game in every aspect.
4. Sony and Microsoft both give more help to projects that are exclusive to their devices, from concept to marketing this is a big advantage.

Above are just a few advantages. Then you take into consideration that by the end of 2011 PS3 could be as low as $199, and well over 50M units sold, and things don't look that bad. Plus they can always hand the content over to the B team, to make the B version for the 360 a year later, and pick up any sales they miss with the PS3 excluisve launch.

So there's my take. PS3 has lots of momentum now, and announcing GTA5 as a PS3 exclusive would only drive that higher. Take Two can make a better game by focusing on one console, and the PS3 has the most power and storage capability of the two of them. Better game, big exclusive marketing, cheaper PS3, and they should be able to blow past GTA4 without a problem. Then they can come back and pick up the scraps with a 360 port a year later.
