No, not everyone thought it would be on rails, I thought too it was going to be like Zelda with more action or something. Anyway, I think it looks cool even if it's on-rails.
People are disappointed for it being on rails because of games like House of the Dead, Umbrella Chronicles etc. But Star Fox is on rails too and that game is fantastic. Killer 7 is kinda the same. I think it all depends how it will be implemented.
Just drawing arrows or shaking the wiimote can be disappointing, but having alternative paths, epic boss battles, defensive moves, multiplayer, etc can make it very fun.
