QVC -- the American cable TV shopping channel -- featured the Wii yesterday (Dec. 2) in two hour-long shows devoted to Nintendo as its "hot deal" of the day.
It was cheesy -- but it appeared the channel moved upwards of 6000 to 7000 Wii bundless and close to 3000 Wii Fit Plus bundles during the day. (Numbers were updated infrequently -- but I can tell you during the evening segment (9-10 p.m. EST (NYC Time)), the Wii sold about 10 units per minute for the 25 minutes it was featured. (It also featured a SW: Republic Heroes bundle with the combo blaster/light saber but no sales numbers were ever mentioned).
I am not sure what was stranger -- the presentation that seemed straight from 2007 or the bundled lack of value (Wii for $320 included a travel kit, the controller sports kit (third-party wheel, golf club, tennis racket, etc.), an component (HD) cable, and a $20 game. And I wondered how many of these people would ever buy another game -- unless of course QVC featured a software night and sold them $20 games for $25.
