This man has a very good point!

Just by being an action game rather than a shooter, this title has already differentiated itself from most of the other mature games that have come out recently.

As for the 'drawing lines' bit. I suspect it uses IR for the plain wiimote to determine angle/speed of slash, WM+ is optional if you want to make more enthusiastic gestures, and CC thumbstick support is thrown in for those rare thumb wigglers out there who are too cool to get enthusiastic with their gameplay.
