I don't follow the Japanese market much, but some specific examples off the top of my head:
Capcom - Monster Hunter 3 - Bundles, marketing
Square Enix - Dragon Quest X - Promised marketing in the West
There has also been talk of Nintendo working more closely with developers behind the scenes.
