But when the Wii does get a "large" third party game, while it does sell very well, it doesn't match the sales of the HD versions.

Can you point an exemple?

An exemple of the wii getting a "large" third party game

Cmon, i wanna hear it.

Silent Hill?

Silent Hill isn't large, it hasn't been since SH3.  I bet the Shattered Memories doesn't tank as hard as the Homecoming did though (yet another HD bomb).

Well, this is going back to its roots. It seems that a lot of effort and care was put into it. Let's hope it has good marketing. If it does all those things, then WHY will it bomb? What will be the excuse? Because is niche?

Survival Horror is totally niche these days.  I think Shattered Memories Wii might end up being the best selling game in the series this gen, it's getting really good buzz and now it looks like Konami may actually push it as a result... but I'm not expecting big things from this series.  It won't even crack 500k imo.

Resident 4 sold really well. I don't agree it's niche, a lot of people want to play these kind of games but they just grow bored of them because are very similar. Nothing has really changed between them over the years. That's the reason the Wii was created after all, to attract those gamers that were getting bored.

Third parties should focus on creating games to attract lost gamers, not with the "casual" mentality, and probably the sells will come.

Resident Evil 4 isn't really survival horror.  It a straight up action/shooter.  RE5 even moreso.

I think Silent Hill Wii will do well for what it is, but I don't expect it to catapult the series back into it's PS1/early PS2 heydays in terms of popularity or influence.

I do think you're right with targeting "lapsed gamers" though.  I think Nintendo's actually gone some way towards doing that on Wii with the Virtual Console, and it's made some 3rd parties even take notice with stuff like Capcom's MegaMan 9 or Konami's ReBirth line.
